Specialized Programs
The Peumansend Creek Regional Jail offers several support programs to address the needs of the female offender. The programs are designed to allow female inmates to address issues surrounding abuse, emotional issues, domestic violence and parenting. Volunteers conduct the special support programs and include:

MILK: Mothers Inside Loving their Kids - parenting program
A parenting program called Mothers Inside Loving Their Kids (M.I.L.K.) provides female inmates with information on raising and caring for children of any age. This program is intended to assist the incarcerated mother in dealing with the struggles of being a parent away from home and how to better parenting skills for the future. This educational and support program will also include the opportunity for female inmates to record a book (chosen from a selection available in the Programs building) on cassette tape for a child or children at home. The class sessions shall be conducted by volunteers as frequently as practical. Inmates may be referred to the sessions by the facility's counseling staff, by request of the inmate, or based on assessment by the classification staff.

Survivors of Abuse - resolving abuse issues
This program to support survivors of abuse, shall be offered to female inmates. The program is designed to allow inmates to work on issues surrounding abuse and the emotional impact such abuse can have on a person's coping skill level, decision-making process, and future experiences of life. Inmates will be introduced to different activities designed to identify abuse, past and more present, as well as ways to protect themselves in the future. Inmates will be educated on the different types of abuse and how they affect a person physically, mentally, and emotionally. The sessions shall be conducted by volunteers as frequently as practical. Inmates may be referred to the sessions by the facility's program staff, by request of the inmate, or based on assessment by the classification counseling staff.

Healing Homes and Hearts - preparing to return home
This program is designed to meet the needs of the inmate population, including the need for preparation to return to society and their homes. The Healing Homes and Hearts Program is intended to educate inmates on domestic violence issues and encourages group members to make decisions that enhance their safety. The sessions shall be conducted by volunteers as frequently as practical.
