Processing

  1. Visitors wishing to visit will enter through the visitor entrance of the Administration Building. Each visitor must have valid picture identification and the name of the inmate he/she wishes to visit. Valid identification shall be one of the following:

    1. Virginia Driver's License
    2. Military or government I.D. card
    3. Passports
    4. School I.D. card (picture type only)
    5. Immigration card (Mica)
    6. Any picture I.D. issued by a City, County, State or Government Agency.
  2. Your name must appear on the inmate's visitation record.
  3. After you are approved to visit, you will have your left hand stamped with an ink stamp.
  4. Secure ALL items in the lockers located in the front lobby of the visitor entrance including your picture identification (driver's license, etc) and personal keys. All other property including rain gear, hats, and extra clothing should be locked in your vehicle or in a locker or placed on the hangers provided.
  5. When directed, pass through the metal detector into the visitor waiting area. Searches of incoming visitors will include a pat search if necessary.
  6. You are to remain in the waiting area until you are directed to pass through the corridor leading from the waiting area into the visiting area.
  7. When you arrive in the visiting area you will be greeted by a uniformed detention officer who will direct you to seating.
  8. When the visit is complete and before you are released from the visiting area, you must pass your left hand under a lamp to reveal the stamp.
  9. When you are ready to leave the building, you will pass your left hand under a lamp at the reception desk one last time.
  10. Please remember to collect your personal items from lockers before leaving.
